    Presbyterian Community Needs Assessment 2023

    This meeting has been postponed until November 4. 

    The Presbyterian and New Mexico Commission for Deaf and Hard of Hearing 2023 Community Needs Assessment Learning Session scheduled for this Saturday has been postponed to November 4 due to schedule conflicts. The event will be held Saturday, November 4, 2023, from 10:00 am – 12:00 pm at Presbyterian Rust Medical Center in Rio Rancho.
    If you plan to attend, please make sure you register for the event by Wednesday, November 1, 2023. If you have previously registered, you will need to re-register because of the date change. This is to know how many people will attend so they can order enough food for the event. Register here: https://pres.support/CNAsession
    Please keep in mind that we need your feedback regardless of if you are a patient through Presbyterian Rust or Presbyterian Healthcare System or any other hospitals. The purpose of the event is to express and share your negative/positive experience at a hospital/clinic/doctor’s office, etc. so that different people who work for Presbyterian can hear your experiences/stories and make a positive change for our community as a whole.

    Cautionary Tales: Climate Crisis & Indigenous Arts Symposium

    Cautionary Tales: Climate Crisis & Indigenous Arts is a one-day symposium that brings Indigenous artists and advocates into conversation about the climate crisis, which disproportionately affects Native communities “first and worst.” Coastal erosion, flooding, drought, wildfires, and severe storms threaten the well-being, lands, livelihoods, and arts of Indigenous peoples, with the impact being felt right now.
    Featuring Diné ethnobotanist Arnold Clifford, Northern Chumash visual artist Leah Mata Fragua, Iñupiaq parka maker and climate initiatives program director Qataliña Jackie Schaeffer, and filmmaker, climate activist, and policy advocate Jade Begay (Tesuque/Diné/Southern Ute). With a reading by Iñupiaq poet dg nanouk okpik and a spoken word performance by IAIA students of Sheila Rocha’s Performance Poetry course.     Vancro will be hosting an in person, two-day SSP training October 28th & 29th in Albuquerque, NM.  This training is open to signing and non-signing folks. 1.6 RID CEUs are available for ASL interpreters.

    Town Hall for Deaf Seniors – Albuquerque

    Vancro will be hosting town halls on 10/28 and 10/29 from 6:30p-8p. The town hall on 10/28 is focused on services for Deaf Seniors and the town hall on 10/29 is focused on services for Deaf individuals with additional disabilities. The location of the town halls is PAH Hiland Plaza Apartments, 5000 Central Ave. SE, Albuquerque, NM 87108. Enter through the main entrance on the corner of Central and Jackson. The doors will be locked but there will be staff available to let you in and direct you to the meeting area.
